Four is the square, the table, the four walls. The tradition gives it method, endurance and an appetite for the unglamorous middle of a project where everyone else has lost interest. It is read as the most trustworthy number and the least celebrated one. Its tension is rigidity — a system built carefully enough becomes hard to change, and 4 is described as defending the structure after the structure has stopped serving the purpose.
A complete line in the grid.
A complete line in the grid.
Concentrated idealism. Read as a wide view that can lose sight of what is directly in front of it.
Read as difficulty getting the inner picture out — the thought is complete, the expression lags. Often described in people whose written voice is far stronger than their spoken one.
The centre of the grid, so its absence is weighted heavily. Read as difficulty adapting mid-course — a preference for the plan already chosen over the plan now indicated.
Read as a complicated relationship with obligation — either avoiding it or over-shouldering it, rarely a settled middle.
Read as reluctance to sit with an unresolved question. Associated with wanting the working answer rather than the true one.
Moolank 1 comes from the day of the month alone; Bhagyank 4 from the whole date. They differ, which is the ordinary case — the two numbers answer different questions.
The Sun. Authority, visibility, the self as centre. Read as leadership that is seen.
Bhagyank uses the same arithmetic as the Western life path, so the two will always agree. That is not two traditions confirming each other — it is one calculation under two names.
It was not really the external influences that made me a singer. Music was within me. I was full of it
People should be blessed in life with friends who are both "Mirrors & Shadows"! Mirrors don't lie & shadows never leave.
Mohd Rafi saab and I fought over royalty rights. At a meeting attended by prominent singers and musicians, he stood up and said, Main aaj se Lata ke saath nahin gaoonga. I retorted, Rafi saab, 'ek minute. Aap nahin gaayenge mere saath yeh galat baat hai. Main aapke saath nahin gaoongee. I stormed out and called all my composers there and then and informed them to rope in another singer if it was a duet with Rafi saab.
When I speak, my Urdu isn't very good but when I sing I make sure there are no flaws in my diction.
I first listen to someone who speaks the language and who reads the lyrics to me. I pay great attention to pronunciation. Once I hear the words spoken, I write the song lines phonetically in Hindi and then sing. By the grace of god, my songs in other languages – including Bengali – have been appreciated. People say they are good and the words have been correctly pronounced.
If he says that I am the voice of the century, then I would say that he is the writer of the century.
