There is a general trend for longer s among married people or those with partners. But we have also studied women who were formerly in relationships where they were . Their telomeres were shorter, and the amount they were shorter related quantitatively to the number of years they were in the relationship. It probably relates to the stress of being in a threatening situation for a long period of time.
